Professional Internet User.

This is from a Getty Image. Some might say I stole it and that I’m a cyber criminal. Others might agree that I’m merely taking my identity back.

The Shorty Awards hired me to take over their Twitter account.

They did this 3 years in a row – on purpose – why though?

  1. My deep knowledge of the Internet: the creator economy, pop culture, and music

  2. My ability to assume brand voice, riff, entertain, interact off-the-cuff with artists, influencers, and creators like Casey Neistat and Keke Palmer, etc.

  3. My addiction to the Vine app

I know what the hell is going on on the Internet, but I’m also not weird about it.

My plan of action: Riff.

  • As a brand, you can rely on posting memes for only so long – if you can’t go off-the-cuff, and immerse yourself in character, you’re just keeping the keyboard warm. That comes off corporate and weird

  • Part of it IS research, however. I have a research background so I dived right into familiarizing myself with the space, the industries, the platforms, and even the languages.

  • People want authenticity in brands. What’s more fun than goofing around on the Web?

With my longtime friend of nearly 6 minutes, Noel Miller of Internet fame.

They let me post literally anything I wanted.

The result:

  • Averaged 5-7 million impressions each show

  • Viral tweets that drew in and resonated with fans

  • Colorful real-time commentary that kept the show going in tandem with the live show to a global audience who watched it via livestream

  • No horrible PR accidents

  • I met my fiance :)
